Parent Education Center

The Parent Education Center offers resources to empower parents and caregivers with effective skills and advocacy tools. Through workshops, in-home programs, and personalized support, we empower parents and caregivers to, foster child development, build positive parenting/caregiving skills, reduce problem behaviors, and enhance resilience. Our goal is to empower parents and caregivers as advocates for children’s success.

We work to help parents and caregivers:

  • Promote each child’s development
  • Increase positive parenting and caregiving skills
  • Reduce problem behaviors
  • Increase resiliency
  • Become advocates for their children

Pathways is a proud partner agency of Journey to 5 Licking County, with a mission to create and promote opportunities to ensure our youngest children have the foundation to reach their greatest potential on their journey to kindergarten.

Active parenting First 5 Years

Active Parenting First Five Years

This three session workshop will give you the opportunity to meet with other families and caregivers of toddlers and preschool children who may be experiencing some of the same challenges you are  facing everyday. Using videos, activities and group discussion, a group leader will help you learn important skills for parenting and caring for a young child.

Active Parenting 4th Edition

Active Parenting

This three or six session workshop will focus on children from 5 to 12 years of age and includes an opportunity to work with other families and caregivers in similar situations. Using video, home activities, group discussions and group activities, this program will help you improve on your skills as a parent and caregiver as your child grows.

Active Parenting of Teens

Active Parenting Teens

This four session video and discussion program for parents of preteens and teens provides parents with methods of respectful discipline, skills for clear, honest communication, concrete strategies to prevent risky behavior and how to be an encouraging parent and caregiver. Plus, insights into issues like teens online, bullying and depression.

The Incredible Years

Incredible Years

The Incredible Years evidence-based early intervention programs focus on enhancing parent and caregiver skills and fostering engagement in children’s school experiences, to promote academic, social, and emotional skills and reduce conduct problems.  The parent programs are delivered to groups of parents/caregivers according to their child’s age and development. Babies (0-12 months), toddlers (1-3 years), preschoolers (3-6 years), and school age (6-12 years). Parent workshops are offered in a group setting and facilitated by trained leaders.

Incredible Years Classroom Dina School

Rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL), the Incredible Years early intervention programs for children use dinosaur -themed materials and life-sized puppets to engage children and enhance their development in areas such as friendship, anger management, problem solving, academic success and other relevant life skills. We currently offer the Incredible Years Classroom Dinosaur School prevention program, delivered by trained group leaders, to kindergarten classrooms at Newark City Schools.

The Incredible Years program for teachers equip educators and early childhood professionals with the expertise to proficiently manage their classrooms while cultivating social, emotional, and academic skills.
