Capable Parents is a path to effective parenting skills and parent advocacy. We provide programs to meet the needs of parents and their children through parenting classes, individualized parenting programs brought to your home and helping parents learn to become advocates for their children.

Capable Parents Education Programs

Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a parent education and family support program serving families throughout pregnancy until their child enters kindergarten, usually age 5. As a PAT family, you receive:
Personal visits -- during which your parent educator will share age-appropriate child development and parenting information, help you learn to observe your child, and address your parenting concerns.
Screenings -- to assess your child's overall development.

1-2-3-4 Active Parent Class

This three session class will give you the opportunity to meet with other families of toddlers and preschool children who may be experiencing some of the same challenges you are facing everyday. Using videos, activities, group discussion a group leader will help you learn important skills for parenting a young child.

Active Parenting Now

This three-six session class will focus on children from 5 to 12 years of age and also includes an opportunity to work with other families in similar situations.
Using video, home activities, group discussions and group activities, this program will help you improve on your skills as a parent as your child grows.

Triple P - Positive Parenting Program

Individual meetings with parents of infants through elementary school age children. Pratical advice on managing a specific problem behavior is provided, assisted by the use of parenting tip sheets and video resources.
